Illiteracy...

..is it worth trying to talk to the manager? Does it really matter?

I don't think that the team in the local Tescos meant to be ironic when they put up the big new notice which says: "It's the imaginary ingredients in our bread that make the difference."

I would have a word. What was it meant to be - imaginative? I'm genuinely baffled.

Of course it is meant to be "imaginative". I think I will talk to some one when I drop in today. But it's depressing...this is a major supermarket chain...

Hello Auntie.
Any chance of promoting our Ordinariate blog? It's from the Portsmouth Mission. We are small in number but wish to let people know what we're getting up to. Thank you

Goes with their imaginary profits :)

The person who wrote this was almost certainly foreign....so it's not really depressing unless you are a UKIP supporter who doesn't like immigration!
We would probably have trouble writing the same thing in their language.

No, that is not the problem. The person who designed and produced the sign was a native English-speaker. Just badly educated.

But I'm intrigued by your lack of logic.Do you really think that "foreign" people are not capable of good English?

And that if you went to live and work in a country where your knowledge of the language was poor, you should not improve it, and that people should not help you?

And will you apply the same logic to other skills?
