Overwhelmed...

Today a meeting of the British section of the international charity Aid to the Church in Need. A Luncheon marking Auntie's retirement from the Board...an involvement with ACN which began when she was a teenager.

An announcement from Archbishop's House, Southwark:  as one of his last acts as Pope, Benedict XVI appointed Joanna Bogle as a Dame of St Gregory.

I am overwhelmed and can't write any more at the moment...

Good for you, Joanna. In the same league as G K Chesterton AND Matt Busby can't be bad.

I'm a regular reader but infrequent commenter.. I do want to comment this time though, to say how delighted I am for you. I admire so much all that you do for the Church (and i only hear positive comments about you from others - don't know if you realise what an inspiration you are to many!) and this papal honour is thoroughly deserved.

With prayers and thanks for your continued work,

Leo

Joanna, that is fantastic - but so well deserved! Very well done. We must celebrate! And how beautiful that it came from beloved Benedict before his retirement.

Dear Auntie: Your UNSWERVING loyalty to the Holy See and to the Church is inspiring. Congratulations on your WELL-DESERVED Order of St. Gregory the Great. And how fitting to be notified on St. George's Day and Shakespeare's Birthday! And receiving it from your beloved Benedict XVI. Well done!

What wonderful news - I can't think of any lay man or woman who has worked so hard for the Church in England. God bless you and may this spur you on to even greater achievements. Rob

Many, many congratulations! What a truly great honor!

I'm afraid I had never heard of you before Mac's post, but I've spent the last two days looking over your archives, previous articles, etc. I am both delighted to have discovered this little corner of the blogosphere and rather disgusted with myself for not having done so sooner. However, I hope that ordering a copy of We Didn't Mean to Start a School for my children's-book-loving and very Catholic mother-in-law for her Mother's Day gift will at least supply some deficits in that regard. ;)

With very best wishes and still more congratulations from across the Atlantic,

~Katherine~
