It sounds lovel y and a positive sign that it was a joint effort with th e Council. Not all secular officials are hostile to religion.
It's wonderful to read about such an active and enthusiastic Parish and in such a popular area.
May the work continue.
Churches are public symbols, so it's desirable to give them as much prominence as possible, which these days includes floodlighting. Whether it will actually attract new congregants is a different issue, people tend to see church building as "heritage", like castles, something that is of the past rather than of today. But the floodlighting is unlikely to do numbers any harm.
I was going to comment that this was a well-written and well-informed piece - and then I went back to it again to see who had written it! Well, of course. The lighting has really brought the building to life, that and the glass doors, the tidy exterior, new notices and so on. Years ago I worked round the corner from Precious Blood - and even then I thought it was more-or-less closed! It's very much alive now. Thank God.
That looks very impressive indeed! Passengers on the line out of Charing Cross will also surely have a striking view of the church.
