...young Catholic in Britain aged 11-18? Or a pupil at a Catholic secondary school in the UK? If so, you are eligible to enter the 2011 Catholic Young Writer Award. It is sponsored jointly by the Catholic Union and The Keys, the Catholic Writers' Guild. Check out the info on the Catholic Union website here.
The theme is about love and is connected to the Royal Wedding...
Last year's winner, on a theme of John Henry Newman and his message, was Corinna Keefe, a pupil at St Leonard/Mayfield school, with a really excellent entry: read more about it here.
NB: Sorry, but this Award is for UK residents only...
Dear Auntie Joanna,
ReplyDeleteJust in case you are a member of the Catholic Answers Forum, I wanted to invite you to join a new chat group called the Campionites. It is designed for Catholics who love British history and heritage. Your knowledge and expertise in this area is obvious, and it would be a benefit for us all if you put up a post occasionally. Naturally, I understand if you are too busy to engage in something like that! If know of anyone who might be interested, would you please let them know abou the group?
Thank you and God Bless!
Dear Auntie Joanna
ReplyDeleteCan you suggest any Catholic Writers Awards for young adults, say 18-25, or even any magazines that welcome contributions from young Catholic writers?
Thanks,
Roy
Any magazine or newspaper is always keen to get material from younger contributors. The key is to send what the publication wants, the subjects in which its readers appear to be interested. Generally, what magazines and newspapers want are features about unusual or intriguing things, interviews with people who are involved with exciting projects...study a range of magazines and newspapers in a local supermarket, and trawl the internet to get a flavour.
